Non-residential training on Power Plant Chemistry

EEC undertakes technical assessments, performance improvement studies and gap analyses of thermal generating stations to identify areas for operational improvement and recommend measures to enhance plant performance and efficiency.

Chemistry management relating to water, coal and gases plays a vital role in the safe, reliable and efficient operation of thermal power plants. Any deviation from the prescribed chemical parameters may adversely affect power generation, plant efficiency, equipment reliability and environmental compliance. Effective monitoring and control of chemical parameters are particularly important for thermal power plants to ensure optimal operating conditions and minimise the risk of operational issues.

With a view to enhancing technical knowledge and improving operational practices in this area, EEC is organising a three-day non-residential training programme on “Power Plant Chemistry” for chemists and shift operators working in thermal power plants.

The training programme will cover various important aspects of power plant chemistry, including raw water quality and treatment, demineralisation, feedwater and boiler water chemistry, cooling water treatment, management of boiler water chemistry excursions, chemical safety, and coal and biomass characterisation. The detailed programme and topics to be covered during the training are provided in Annexure-I.

Two batches of training are proposed to be conducted in EEC, Delhi as per following schedule :

  • From 25th to 27th November, 2026 (3 days)
  • From 2nd to 4th December, 2026 (3 days)

The training will emphasise aspects of power plant chemistry through case studies and discussions on common operational challenges. Participants will also be provided with practical insights and appropriate solutions to address chemistry-related case issues encountered during the operation of Thermal Power plants.

In this regard, nominations are invited from thermal power plants for participation in the training programme. Interested thermal power plants are, therefore, requested to nominate suitable personnel, preferably plant chemists and shift operators, who can benefit from the training and apply the knowledge gained to improve plant operations.

For submission of nominations and any further information or assistance regarding the programme, Shri Rahul Wadhwa, Manager(F&A), EEC may be contacted at Mobile No. +91-9899858688 or via email at eecrahul.wadhwa@gmail.com.
